HUD Housing Counseling Program Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA)- Fiscal Year
2010
HUD today announced that $79 million
is available for a broad range of housing counseling programs to help families
find & preserve housing. The available funding is an increase of $21 million,
or 27 percent, over last year. These grants will be awarded competitively to hundreds
of HUD-approved counseling agencies & State Housing Finance Agencies that
offer a variety of services including how to avoid foreclosure, how to purchase
or rent a home, how to improve credit scores, & how to qualify for a reverse

Publishes Revised Housing Counseling Handbook 7610.1 Rev-5
This
handbook specifies the most current legislative & programmatic requirements
for the implementation of HUD's Housing Counseling Program & outlines requirements
for program eligibility, approval, the delivery of comprehensive & HECM counseling
services, program record keeping, reporting, performance monitoring, the competitive
funding, & the grant application process. This handbook offers policy guidance
